Twinkl offers a wide range of educational resources. They provide craft activity ideas for Mother's Day that can be used in classrooms or at home. These activities include printable templates, step-by-step craft instructions, and creative ideas to make personalized gifts and decorations. Some crafts have explanation videos that are hosted on YouTube. If your district blocks YouTube, then they may not be viewable.
In the Classroom
Choose from any of the crafts to create Mother's Day gifts. While the focus is Mother's Day, these crafts can be utilized in any subject area as a way for students to demonstrate their knowledge. Use Book Creator, reviewed here, to have students create interactive e-books that include stories, poems, and crafts for Mother's Day. You can then share the e-books with families. Many of the templates are PDFs. Have students upload them to a program like Canva Edu, reviewed here and they can type or draw on the PDFs. Then, share them electronically or print them out and to be displayed in the classroom. Incorporate math by having the students create pixel art using the cross-stitch activity.

Museum featured artwork provides the content for detailed lessons. Click the menu on the left, then slide down and click Learn to find Art to Go, Teacher Guides, Family Activities, and more. Sign up for Art to Go monthly email that contains a printable full-color image of an artwork at the Baltimore Museum of Art. A brief commentary focuses on teaching ideas, while the challenge project invites students to try this idea and bring it into their own style. There is a plethora of ideas and lessons on this site.

Have you been trying to incorporate different sources into your social studies content? Use the content areas found in this collection. In gifted classrooms, use these activities for choice enrichment activities to deepen content knowledge. Use the artwork to inspire a narrative or informative writing prompt. Art classes have immediate lesson plans. Use it as a quick lesson in case of a sub. When going on a trip to your local museum, begin by investigating the content found in the Baltimore Museum of Art. Kentecloth.net is an online platform dedicated to showcasing the beauty and cultural significance of Kente cloth, a traditional handwoven fabric from Ghana, West Africa. The website offers many Kente designs symbolizing various cultural values, stories, and historical events. It serves as a resource to learn more about the history, symbolism, and artistry behind this well-known textile. Additionally, the site provides insights into the weaving process, highlighting the skill and craftsmanship of the Kente weavers, a downloadable coloring book, and an eBook. The site does embed YouTube videos, so if your district blocks YouTube, you may not be able to access some of the videos.
In the Classroom
Students can create a digital story or a short documentary using a movie program like Adobe Express Video Maker, reviewed here to narrate a story or a theme represented in a specific Kente pattern they choose from the website. Students can study the geometric patterns in Kente designs on the website and then use a tool like GeoGebra to create similar geometric patterns, exploring concepts like symmetry, shapes, and tessellation. They can use the website to explore different Kente cloth designs and then use a drawing app like Tux Paint, reviewed here to create their own digital Kente patterns, focusing on the colors and geometric shapes. Drawn to Art shares comics created by student illustrators from the Ringling College of Art and Design that tell the story of female artists. Although made with middle school students in mind, the comics and stories will inspire readers of all ages. Female artists featured in the comics represent a diverse collection of backgrounds, ethnicities, and artistic styles.
In the Classroom
Share this site with students as you research different types of art, inspiring women, or diverse cultures. Ask students to select one of the featured artists to explore further. Many of the comics portray events from specific periods of history, such as World War II and the Civil War. Include them with your lessons about these events to provide a human and artistic perspective of the period. Challenge students to create a comic featuring their favorite artist inspired by this collection. In Pieces is an interactive exhibition of 30 of the world's most interesting but unfortunately endangered species, portrayed through fragmented geometric art. Each species has a dedicated page with an animation and a brief, informative description highlighting its danger and the need for conservation. This artistic website aims to raise awareness about endangered species and illustrate how people can help with conservation. Each animal has statistics, a video, and a link to ways to help. The videos are housed in YouTube. If your district blocks YouTube, the videos may not be viewable. Be sure to view the linked resources to ensure they are appropriate for your students.
In the Classroom
This resource would be great in art, math, or science. Download the images and have students use a drawing program to cut out shapes or use pattern blocks to replicate the downloaded image. Use this site in math class to enhance your statistics unit. The information is shown in various ways and provides students with a real-world connection on how statistics can be used to communicate information. Have students research a different endangered animal not shown and create a statistic presentation. In science, use this site to engage students in a unit on conservation. Have students view the site and record facts or statistics they found interesting. They could utilize a KWL to chart and record their thoughts. In four easy steps, use artificial intelligence (AI) to generate anime images. Choose a character, select a color palette, fine-tune details such as facial expressions and background, and finish by choosing a favorite pose. If desired, give your character a name before downloading the image in PNG format from the link provided.
In the Classroom
Use anime to engage students in many topics by creating anime-style images with this resource. Spark creativity in writing projects by creating and displaying portraits with several moods, then ask students to create a story that accompanies the featured images. Share the images with students and ask them to include them on their story document created using Microsoft Word or Google Docs. Extend learning by allowing students to include anime images as part of comic strip stories created using a comic creation tool like ToonyTool, reviewed here. Create comics that tell the steps and outcomes of science experiments, describe Japanese landmarks, or retell folk tales. It's a good idea to require students to create a rough draft of their comic using Printable Comic Strip Templates, reviewed here.
