AmphibiaWeb - University of California at Berkeley
Grades
9 to 12In the Classroom
Share this site on an interactive whiteboard or projector during a unit on the classification of animal kingdoms. The site provides a good example of the classifications, and can be easily searched for specific species if students are doing a research project. Forewarning: the classifications are all the Latin names of the reptiles, so it is best to know the creature you're searching for beforehand. Allow students to explore the site on their own, and post on the teacher web page if there are any research projects to allow students to access it both in and out of the classroom.Add your comments below (available only to members) | Become a Member

Grades
4 to 12In the Classroom
Start with Water Basics, and find lots of topics and activities. Review the water cycle on your interactive whiteboard or with a projector. Engage your students with one of the interactive activities. Once your students have the basics, enhance learning by having them choose a topic as a source for a multimedia project to present what they learned using Genially, reviewed here. With Genially students can insert maps, surveys, video, audio and more. Teachers will likely want to sort through the material before suggesting it to their students.Add your comments below (available only to members) | Become a Member

Kids Do Ecology - Univ. of California Santa Barbara
Grades
4 to 8In the Classroom
Though this site is no longer maintained, the links work and there is plenty of material to use in your classroom. This site is a great science find for both teachers and students! Teachers, there is an entire section of free lesson plans and activities that can be easily recreated in your classroom. For students, use this site as learning center or station. Allow students to use the site in cooperative learning groups, for any science unit on biomes, ecology, mammals, or data collection. This site would be a great supplement to book materials.Add your comments below (available only to members) | Become a Member
