Look at different areas of mathematical standards, numbers and operations, base ten, counting cardinality in algebraic thinking, numbers and operations for fractions, geometry, and measurement and data in grades kindergarten through grade five. In grades six through eight explore statistics and probability, expressions and equations, the number system, ratios, and proportional relationships. In high school discover the progressions in algebra, functions, and modeling. Find resources for further development of programs offered to support Common Core mathematics. Discover research, periodicals and groups using Common Core math.

OnLineMathLearning is a nice supplement to your classroom. Use the videos on your interactive whiteboard to begin instruction. Differentiate your math instruction by student need and assign individually. Use the worksheets, games, and activities for extra practice and reinforcement. Allow students to see the ideas listed before they start their science fair projects. Recommend this website to parents so they can understand the "new way" of doing math. Be sure to list as a resource for extra practice on your class website. Keep the videos on this site in mind for using as models when assigning students to make their own videos. Be sure to include in your math parent night. Use as enrichment for your advanced students.

Use the link to "Browse Our New Common Core Map" to find interactive math problems for grades K-12. Each activity lists the number of skills and problems available for each level. View step by step solutions to each problem. Many problems even include video explanations. The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium and Illustrative Mathematics partnered with Khan Academy to ensure the rigor of materials and full alignment to the Common Core Standards. Draw geometric constructions with the help of Robocompass's animated features. View ideas from the example list to understand how the site works. Choose one of the examples (such as Bisect an Angle) then click the "Play All" button to follow the step-by-step procedure in action. Stop the animation at any point and resume play when ready. In addition to using examples provided, create your own constructions using commands found in the "How to" link. Robocompass interfaces with Google memberships, allowing you to SAVE animations! For a good overview of the site, choose "Take the Tour." (The tour button only shows AFTER you have clicked a sample file or "Open Robocompass.") This option offers a video overview and explanation. If your district blocks YouTube, "Take the Tour" may not be viewable. The tool states it operates best in Chrome and requires WebGL. You need to enable Web GL to use it in Safari. See directions how in this blog post. iOS and Android apps are "coming soon." Imagine this one on a tablet! Note: This site uses significant bandwidth to load the animations and the tour video. Be patient.

Get lost in the world of Mathigon - a visually beautiful, interactive online library of math animations, games, illustrations, and more. Choose to begin with the World of Mathematics e-book or explore one of several slideshows, movies, and explorations. The Mathematical Origami and Panorama math applications sections are fabulous, though a little text-heavy. Take a trip with Alice in FractalLand using Disney clips to learn about sequencing, fractals, and triangles. Explore Mathigon Ideas containing short video explanations of important math ideas using only graphics and animations. There is much to explore and see on this interesting and colorful site. Be sure to allow plenty of time to find it all! Check back often as new explorations are currently under development. If your district blocks YouTube, then parts of this site may not be viewable. The site operates well on any mobile browser, too!

If you are a math teacher at any level, this is a MUST-SEE (and share) site. Take the time to explore it for specific sections connected to your curriculum concepts. Students in a BYOD classroom can explore interactives on this mobile-friendly site. Mathigon is perfect for use on interactive whiteboards, projector, and classroom computers. Use Mathigon activities to excite and motivate math students. Some activities require reading so you may need to partner your weaker readers with a buddy. Listen to podcasts while viewing text explaining common math questions from basic algebra through SAT prep questions. Be sure to check out the "The Math Dude's Most Popular Tips" and "The Math Dude's Archives." Download podcasts as MP3 files and play through iTunes, QuickTime Player, and RealPlayer installed on a local computer. You can also simply play them from the site. Just be sure you click on the podcast play button and not one of the annoying videos or other ads! This site is loaded with advertisements. However, there is some great material underneath them all. Patrick's channel is all about sharing math ideas and content to make math easier and more understandable to all. Browse through videos sorted in the order uploaded or by popularity. Use the search to find specific content. Most videos run 10 minutes or less, making content easy to use as a supplement to existing lessons or for extra help. The videos are not done "Hollywood" style, but they do explain things well. If your district blocks YouTube, they may not be viewable. To remove all of the "clutter" and advertisements from YouTube try Quietube, reviewed here.

Math with Mr. Almeida is an extensive YouTube channel of math videos aligned to Common Core Standards and more. There are many unique topics and even some math raps! Video titles begin with the actual Common Core Standard addressed and a summarizing phrase of the content. Scroll through the playlists to find videos sorted by grade levels from Kindergarten through High School. Subscribe to Mr. Almeida's channel to receive notice of new uploads. If your district blocks YouTube, the videos may not be viewable.

In the Classroom
Bookmark and save this YouTube channel for use throughout the school year when teaching math lessons. Use the embed code or links to share videos on your class website or blog to "flip" your class, having students watch them before class discussion and practice. Or view videos together on your interactive whiteboard or projector. Set up a video chat time during the evening using one of these YouTube videos using a tool such as Watch2gether, reviewed here. This tool is an amazing geometry playground. Select points on your screen and connect them. On tablets, draw roughly with your finger (such as a circle), and the tool will generate a real circle. Use the Help page to identify the gestures that can be used on a tablet. The interface uses icons that are easy to find and follow. This web tool is designed to work on mobile browsers on any device.
In the Classroom
This tool is great for creating and visualizing math concepts from basic geometric shapes and area to complex constructions and trig. Use on a whiteboard or with a class projector for interactive classroom use. Save or retrieve creations with Dropbox, reviewed here or Google Drive, reviewed here. Use for hands-on work with any geometry or trigonometry functions. Since this tool works on such a variety of devices, it would be ideal to use in a BYOD (or 1:1) geometry class. Free Learning Tools is an excellent resource for practice tests, flashcards and a question of the day for upper level mathematics. View topics in alphabetical order from Accuplacer Arithmetic Tests through VTNE Tests. Some topics contain several tests such as the SAT Math Tests which contain 46 tests Some topics only include one test. In addition to the test, view the test's difficulty level and average time spent to complete. Each topic also includes flashcards for quick review. Flashcards contain a problem, multiple choice answers, the solution, and an explanation for the correct answer.

In the Classroom
Use Free Practice Tests flashcards on your interactive whiteboard (or projector) to practice standardized testing material. Display the problem of the day on your interactive whiteboard as a class warm-up. Have students complete the problem of the day at home for daily homework. Be sure to share a link to the site on your class webpage or blog for students to use for at-home practice. Be aware this site advertises for tutors. Yay Math! is a series of lively math videos filmed in live classrooms. View videos for Algebra 1, 2, and Geometry concepts. Videos run approximately 15 to 30 minutes in length and include an accompanying worksheet. You can preview the first part of the videos. Wait a few seconds to click "Skip this ad." Many videos also include an online quiz. Just enter the access code provided to begin. You will also need to provide a name and email address. These videos are hosted on YouTube. If your district blocks YouTube, then they may not be viewable.

If you don't want to provide an email address for quizzes, use a disposable email address tool such as Mail Catch reviewed here to obtain a temporary email address. Share links to videos on your class website or blog and on classroom computers for student viewing.
