Piktochart's AI-powered infographic generator creates infographics from your text within ten seconds. Registration isn't required to make up to four free infographics monthly; however, registration allows you to create up to ten monthly infographics and edit the content created by Piktochart. Describe your topic by entering text into the chat bar, then click to generate infographics. After your design appears, choose from several templates to change the style of your infographic. Registered members can change images, text, font, and more. When finished, share your design using the link, embed code, or as an image in PNG format.
In the Classroom
Quickly create infographics as a schema activator or lesson introduction by typing in the topic of your lesson. Discuss the information shared on the infographic and ask students to share additional ideas that support their current understanding of the content. Share the infographic creator with students to include with multimedia presentations, book reports, or oral presentations. Students can create infographics about a classroom topic, relationships, definitions of significant terms, lab information, and more. Convert and download YouTube videos to any device using the Free Video Downloader Online. First, find and copy the video link on the URL of your web browser (this is different than copying the link to share - you want to see the word "watch" in the link you copy). Next, click download to begin saving to your device, then choose from many different options for the type and size of the file to download. Additional download options include saving as an MP3, JPG thumbnail, or caption. For the final step, a preview will appear after selecting an option for download; pick the three dots in the video preview and choose the option to download. Then, view the download videos on your current media player, such as QuickTime.

Many schools and districts block YouTube; use this resource to download videos for classroom viewing. Share videos on classroom devices for students to view anytime, even when Internet access is unavailable. The Activities section suggests several books to read that range from ages PreK to grade 12, with seven videos from which to choose. One activity suggests students practice walking with jugs of water balancing on their heads. Another activity is to simulate cleaning up bird feathers after an oil spill. Additional resources and activities are suggested in the Extensions section.
In the Classroom
Include books from this list on your recommended books list to share with students. Engage students further by completing the activity about walking with a water container on their heads. Use Padlet, reviewed here to have students relate how it felt to balance and carry the water and how they could make getting water easier for the community. This is a link to Padlet's Help section for posting video or an image. Ask students to listen to and comment on other classmates' descriptions and ideas. Take a virtual field trip with this Reading Trek based on Susan Hood's book Ada's Violin. This Reading Trek includes a Teacher Guide that uses Google My Maps, reviewed here as the basis for a virtual journey that tells how music transformed the lives of children and teens living on the edge of a landfill just outside Paraguay's capital city. Activities correlate to Common Core Standards, National Standards for Social Studies and Visual Arts, and Social Justice Standards. In addition to teaching ideas for working with the map, this Reading Trek also includes extension activities and links to additional helpful resources.
In the Classroom
Take advantage of the many lesson ideas in the Teachers' Guide to bring this story to life and provide activities that correlate with the book's theme of recycling and reusing materials. As students read the book, create a timeline of events using a simple timeline creation tool such as the one provided by Read, Write, Think, reviewed here to help students follow the sequence of events in the story. After engaging students in learning by creating recycled instruments, have students write and record a short soundtrack to accompany the story. Share boomy, reviewed here with students to create and record music from their computers using virtual tools.
