Go to Google Street View instantly with this handy site. Begin by typing in an address. As you type the screen changes automatically to the best street view image of what has been entered so far. Many may find the constant changing of images as you type distracting; others may find the variety of seeing new areas exciting. Click "About" in the lower left hand corner for an explanation of color boxes and controls. Download and share the view easily.

Assign students various countries, regions, or continents to make comparisons. Identify the biological, geographical, cultural, and social issues that exist in the world, based on what the pictures show and what their research uncovers. Bring a greater understanding to current economic and environmental issues in many countries. World language (or world cultures) classes can help students understand the cultures of the countries where the language is spoken. Compare specific attributes of two countries using an online Venn Diagram, such as the one reviewed here. Another idea: have cooperative learning groups use this resource to create online books about the country of their tour using a resource such as Bookemon.

Conker.ai is an online platform that can help teachers create online quizzes for students of all grades. Teachers can easily customize quizzes based on the topic, the number of questions, and the difficulty level. Questions can be multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, or a combination of both. Quizzes can be completed online using an access code or exported to a Google form. First, you must create an account with Google, which requires you to give access to your Google Drive.

In the Classroom

Teachers can input relevant topics or subjects for their students, select a suitable grade level, and specify the number of questions needed. Many different output languages make this an excellent resource for world language teachers. For example, enter a short reading passage of up to 1,200 words and generate questions from the selection in just a few minutes! You can also use your questions to create interactive activities or games using sites such as Nearpod or Kahoot that promote student engagement and enhance their learning experience.

Speechify uses AI to convert text to speech and works in many different formats, including web pages, PDF documents, Microsoft Word, emails, and texts. The free plan offers a choice of ten voices and allows you limited options for controlling text speed. Register to create an account; when you reach the page that asks for billing information, do not add this information. Here is how you can get the site for free. Without clicking the page closed, return to the home page by opening a new window and clicking on "Speechify" in the title of this review. You will see a link to the web app materialize; click that, and your account dashboard will appear. Follow the directions to select a document or web page. After the information loads, click play on any text portion to listen. Options on the left side of the page allow you to change voices, adjust the speed, and change options for the page's appearance, including highlighting, scrolling, and dark mode.

In the Classroom

Use Speechify as a helpful tool to increase reading comprehension, support English language learners, and help students with dyslexia and other special needs. Upload tests, worksheets, and other assessment documents to support students who have materials read to them. Share Speechify with parents and students for use at home. When sharing Speechify, consider making a short tutorial video using Free Screen Recorder Online, reviewed here to demonstrate how to create a free account, where to find the dashboard, and how to upload and view reading materials.

Obtaining the transcript of any YouTube video is as easy as entering the URL and pressing go on this easy-to-use site. The transcript appears on the right-hand side of the screen along with the video on the left and includes several options for viewing the information. Click one button to copy the entire transcript, choose a video position and click the link to go to that portion of the transcript, or select auto-scroll to view the transcript in coordination with the video's content. If your district blocks YouTube, then the videos may not be viewable.

In the Classroom

Use this transcript creator in several ways to enhance student learning. Create a transcript to provide a written version of a video's content for hard-of-hearing students or those who will benefit from the audio recording and written content. Multilingual students may benefit from having written text to support video content. Provide a written transcript for students to use when watching a video to add notes and highlight important information. Share a copy of a video transcript in your learning management system for students to access when reviewing information for tests and quizzes. When working with videos that require in-depth discussion, consider copying the transcript into Fiskitt, reviewed here. Fiskett is a collaborative tool for annotating documents online. Ask students to highlight important information, add comments to clarify information, or use the included tags to label information as true or false.
