Have you ever wanted to see your own face on a dollar bill? Use this online image editor to personalized bills with your own picture. Just upload your picture (or any image) using the photo link at the bottom of the page. Images can be moved around within the picture frame, and there is an option to adjust the image size by zooming in or out. Save the edited image by right-clicking the image and selecting "save" to download the output image to your computer. Then print the dollar bill with your image. The site offers currency from many different countries from Antarctica to Yugoslavia, and you can create posters, decks of cards, and more.

Join Ruff Ruffman in the PBS Kids Game show, Fetch. Learn about animal science as you view (and participate) on this educational game show including 5 contestants ages 10-14. "Ruff" hosts the game show, reality style with children contestants, learning about science and also crazy challenges. Topics include (but are not limited to) animals, engineering, deserted islands, dinosaur footprints, hover crafts, mummies, song birds, and more. There are past episodes and games available.
In the Classroom
Invite Ruff Ruffman into your classroom to add spice to your science, language arts, and math curriculum. Although contestants are ages 10-14, younger students would benefit by watching the activities. Some may be too challenging for younger students to complete on their own. Students will identify with the contestants as they learn and laugh along with Ruff. Add a Ruff adventure or interview as an anticipatory guide for a unit. Share a clip or experiment on your interactive whiteboard or projector. Use as a way to enrich during your unit on mammals, motion, or problem solving. Have older elementary students (or middle school) become familiar with the show's format, and create an "episode" based on your unit of study. Challenge cooperative learning groups to create videos to share using a site such as TeacherTube reviewed here. Create a writing experience from episodes given. Use an episode as a spark to begin a further area of inquiry. Add to your computers as a center time activity, or even as a special earned award. FigJam is an online collaborative whiteboard with many built-in versatile tools for classroom use. The whiteboard offers infinite space to add templates, drawings, and areas for conversations and projects. In addition, interactive elements allow members to react to ideas with emojis, high-fives, and stamps. Create an account to begin using FigJam and access all of its features. Create your FigJam board by selecting the purple "+FigJam Board" link near the top of the home page. Add features to your whiteboard by choosing from the many options available, including drawing and writing tools, a timer, and an AI generator to create items such as timelines and mindmaps. Share your FigJam board with others by copying the link, sending an email, or copying the embed code onto a webpage.
In the Classroom
Use FigJam in many different ways to engage learners and support classroom instruction. Google Jamboard, reviewed here is a similar but less robust tool than FigJam and will not be supported after December 31, 2024. Migrate your current Jamboards into FigJam. This link will take you to the directions for importing your Jamboards to FigJam. When working in FigJam, use sticky notes as a collaborative activity to brainstorm ideas and information as a class. Use the drawing tools and ask students to label places, parts of plants, and more. Use FigJam templates to create all-about-me activities, such as class check-in and exit ticket activities, Frayer Model activities, and much more. This website is truly a rare find - combining math and reading skills. Although the main page is aesthetically plain, the activities are very challenging. Most are set-up as word problems that require reading, comprehension, math skills, and more. The "outline math problems" provide students with 3-5 choices. You simply click on the blank and the choices for the answers are provided. There are activities for primary grades (such as basic addition practice) as well as advanced activities for secondary grades (such as geometry concepts). Many of the activities require JAVA. Get it from the TeachersFirst Toolbox page..

These activities are perfect for an interactive whiteboard (or projector). You could also provide a link to this website in your class newsletter or on your class web page. Find My Pi Day is an educational tool designed to engage students in exploring the fascinating relationship between birthdays and the mathematical constant Pi. The website was created to help people find when their birthday corresponds to the mathematical constant Pi. The website calculates and displays the digits of Pi and matches them with the digits in your birthday. This can be a fun way to celebrate Pi Day, which is observed on March 14th.

Integrating Find My Pi Day into your classroom offers a unique opportunity to engage students in exploring the fascinating world of Pi while enhancing their mathematical understanding. Engage and kickstart the exploration of Pi by using a collaborative whiteboard tool like Jamboard, reviewed here to do a graffiti board brainstorm. On the Jamboard show Pi's decimal representation and invite students to jot down everything they know or think about the number Pi as they see it, encouraging free expression and brainstorming! After students have shared connections to Pi on the 'graffiti board,' direct them to the TeachersFirst Special Topics page to learn more about Pi Day and its significance. You can create a virtual scavenger hunt using tools like Google Forms, reviewed here or Microsoft Forms, reviewed here where you can create tasks for them to search for specific information on the Pi Day website. Choose from several different options to download icons in the file format desired, such as png. Convert to jpg, bmp, or several other file options. Each icon includes licensing information so you can look for icons that are Creative Commons or public domain. Create an account then make user sets of your favorite icons. Access your user sets from anywhere through the FindIcons website. Explore the TAGS button to find search ideas. Be aware: ANY word/term can be searched, some may not be appropriate for the classroom. If you plan to allow young people to use this site independently, be sure to discuss appropriate searching.

Create an account and allow Fireflies.ai access to your calendar and select options for access to scheduled web-conference events. Fireflies.ai includes access to meetings conducted via Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, and other major conferencing platforms. Following each recorded meeting, memberss receive an email with a recording, transcript, and AI-generated summary.

Use Fireflies.ai to record and review any web-based meeting such as parent/teacher conferences and staff presentations. The science portion includes eleven learning apps, a Teachers Guide, and Family Science Fun activities to promote learning of contents such as plants, ramps, and shadows. The early math activities include ten apps that teach concepts, including subitizing, spacial thinking, and data analysis. The Teacher's Guides have lesson ideas, circle time activities, and suggestions for learning centers and outdoor activities to reinforce concepts. Student learning apps are available for download on the Apple Store.
