Rawpixel offers a massive selection of free images, PNG elements, fonts, and backgrounds curated by the site's graphic designers. Select the Public Domain link to find collections and resources for use with a Creative Commons license. Rawpixel makes it easy to find items using Topics; select the topic link to search collections by trending, popular, or new images. Use the search bar to find specific topics, photos, or boards. Follow the directions to download pictures after creating your free account. Each download also includes attribution information to have when using. Finally, create boards to save images to a collection for later use.
In the Classroom
Include Rawpixel with your other image resources for your professional use and share with students. Be sure to include discussions of proper attribution of images and Creative Commons Licensing. Consider using a curation tool such as Wakelet, reviewed here, or Padlet, reviewed here, to share image resources with students. Ask students to enhance presentations using images and elements found on Rawpixel. For example, when creating presentations on the American Revolution using Google Slides, reviewed here, or Canva Edu, reviewed here, ask students to find a PNG image of a smartphone, then add chat boxes into the phone to depict a conversation between George Washington and one of his generals. Choose from three different options for the outline style. The tutorial provides information on using and personalizing the outline including adding sections, drag and drop to move boxes, and how to delete portions of the outline. This interactive also includes a preview option to view the outline before sharing. Click finish to print your work or copy and paste your outline from the preview into a word document.

Notetaker is a fantastic tool for teaching students how to outline and also for furthering knowledge of those familiar with outlines. Take advantage of this free interactive and the link to lessons that include this interactive to supplement your current teaching materials. Create your account and download the extension following the site's directions. Collect segments of videos into "Snippets" to save onto boards to share publicly or save as private. Add collaborators to create shared boards.

Use ReClipped to make sharing portions of videos easier by including only the segments needed. Add notes or questions for students to follow. Create a classroom board to share with students highlighting important information for any topic. Ask students to create their own snippets to share information or back up their point of view. Have tech-savvy students create their own videos and make snippets demonstrating how to use different features of ReClipped. RecordCast is more than a screen recorder; it also includes editing tools to add text, music, and transitions after downloading your recording. Use RecordCast's options to record your entire screen or just a tab or application. When finished, save to download to your device. Although registration isn't required, it allows you to save recordings and export completed videos in different formats for easier sharing.

When sending a text, the site is set up so that students & parents do not see the teachers' phone numbers nor do the teachers see the students' phone numbers. Create an account. Any phone that can receive text messages will receive these. Communication through this site is safe and secure. You only see the names of your students, not their phone number, and they only see your name -- not your cell phone number. With Remind you can schedule reminders for the future, translate your message into 70 languages, send photos, PDFs, voice clips, and see who has read your messages.

Upload an image from your computer or enter the URL of an image that includes people and Remove Background uses AI technology to remove the entire background leaving just the people. When finished, download the JPG file to your computer to use as wished.

Bookmark this site for many classroom uses. Combine your downloaded image with others using a variety of tools including Google Slides. Choose a background image of a city being studied, a different time, or in a far-away setting like the moon, then place your student image on top. Resize the image to fit the scene. Include this image as a starter for class projects. Use images on top of book covers for book talks, create images for story characters and heroes, or use for weather reports. Reshot provides free, hand-picked images to use as you wish. The site's goal is to provide a platform for emerging photographers to share their work. Scroll through the site to view trending images or use the search feature to locate images by keyword. Choose your photo, then use the "download free" link to download to your computer.
In the Classroom
Use Reshot in the classroom any time images are needed for projects, even if the project is not put on a website for others to see. Even though the site says "no attribution required," it is a good idea to have students acknowledge, or as the site says "appreciate," the origin of the image; this will help to get students into the habit of citing their sources. Student groups can use Reshot to find the best image to use for a project collectively. Challenge students to create personalized images (with text) using PicFont, reviewed here. Teachers can collect images for use on their interactive whiteboard for sorting activities (monocots and dicots, producers and consumers, etc.). Use images as a writing prompt or in poetry collections. Art teachers can find images for students to use as references or in photo-montages (with attribution or "appreciation" as they say on the site). For an easy online photo editor and montage maker, try using Pixlr, reviewed here. Elementary teachers can use images from this site as part of student-run interactive whiteboard activities, such as labeling parts of plants. Speech and language or ENL/ESL teachers can find images to use in vocabulary development activities. In the Classroom
Introduce this site on your interactive whiteboard and allow students to explore on their own. Create a bulletin board to display the latest medal counts, have students update daily with information from the Olympics site. Have students create a simple infographic on their favorite sport using Venngage reviewed here. Have cooperative learning groups create daily podcasts to share the latest news from the Olympics. In the Classroom
Share one fact a day with students as you count down toward the beginning of the 2016 Summer Games, August 5 to 21, 2016. Use this information as a learning center and have students conduct research to learn more about the Olympic Games and Brazil. Transform learning by challenging students to create a daily annotated image including text boxes and related links using a tool such as Google Drawings, reviewed here with information gathered from their research. An alternative would be to have students create timelines (with music, photos, videos, and more) using Timeline JS, reviewed here, to show the training process of Olympic athletes. Create a quick poll (with no membership required) using SurveyRock, reviewed here, to find out how many students plan on watching the Olympics, guesses for the number of medals earned by your country, or their choice for potential host cities. Alternately, if your school starts after the Olympics are over, use these facts for a discussion of the Olympics.
