Digital Escapes are the online version of immersive games where teams discover clues, solve puzzles, and accomplish tasks to escape from the game site. They're an exciting, fun, and effective learner-centered teaching strategy you will reach for again and again. PixCove offers downloadable JPEG images for use privately or commercially without requiring attribution. Use the keyword search to locate images for specific topics or browse through the latest uploads. Included with each image is a short description with tags and a statement of no copyright declaring the availability to use the image without attribution. Even when not required, it is always a good idea for students to provide attribution when possible.
In the Classroom
Explore PixCove as a resource to find images and backgrounds for any digital projects and presentations. Select interesting images to display for creative writing prompts or ask students to select a photo to inspire a creative writing project. Ask students to write their stories (displaying the image) with Telegra.ph, reviewed here, to share with the class. Find My Pi Day is an educational tool designed to engage students in exploring the fascinating relationship between birthdays and the mathematical constant Pi. The website was created to help people find when their birthday corresponds to the mathematical constant Pi. The website calculates and displays the digits of Pi and matches them with the digits in your birthday. This can be a fun way to celebrate Pi Day, which is observed on March 14th.
In the Classroom
Integrating Find My Pi Day into your classroom offers a unique opportunity to engage students in exploring the fascinating world of Pi while enhancing their mathematical understanding. Engage and kickstart the exploration of Pi by using a collaborative whiteboard tool like Jamboard, reviewed here to do a graffiti board brainstorm. On the Jamboard show Pi's decimal representation and invite students to jot down everything they know or think about the number Pi as they see it, encouraging free expression and brainstorming! After students have shared connections to Pi on the 'graffiti board,' direct them to the TeachersFirst Special Topics page to learn more about Pi Day and its significance. In the Classroom
Create flashcards for your classes -- or have them make their own. Try using them as an introduction to a concept, then again in the practice of the concept, and one more time as a final review. This would be great for teaching Latin prefixes and suffixes of words used in science terms or for standardized test preparation. Try having students create flashcards and share with each other to quiz themselves within their own groups. Clicking on Discussion Group in the upper right corner to start a discussion thread about a flashcard to extend learning. Teach students in higher grades how to create flash cards with multiple blanks to challenge their brain to remember more pieces of the puzzle. Show them how to carefully read through their classroom notes and underline the most important word or words in a sentence. Then have them leave out the most important words for their flashcards. Learning support teachers might want to have small groups create cards together to review together before tests. In Teams, you can give students assignments with all applicable resources and templates attached, then use rubrics, polls, and quizzes to offer timely feedback on progress toward learning goals. Learn to create and use this assignment and feedback loop to help students grow. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Learn how to create assignments in Microsoft Teams; 2. Understand how to give students feedback on completed assignments; and 3. Plan to use a rubric to offer students feedback. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Make an animated character with your voice and the easy-to-use tools provided by Adobe Express. Choose a character from those provided; options include robots, superheroes, cartoon characters, and more. Next, click the background link to select a background image from those available on the site, select a color, or upload an image from your device. The final customization option allows you to size the video by choosing from several options customized for use with social media. After making your selections, click record to create your audio recording of up to two minutes in length. After the animation processes, download the final product as an MP4 file or open it in Adobe Creative Cloud Express, reviewed here to add filters, text, and additional animations. Registration isn't required to create and download your animations.
In the Classroom
Take advantage of this engaging site for you and your students to use in many ways. Engage students in upcoming lessons by creating animated previews of forthcoming material. For example, create a short video with hints about geographic features to be studied by including one of them as your background. Ask students to share learning by creating short videos presented as a character chosen from the provided options. The video helps one understand the process of number sense, flexible thinking in problem-solving, and fluency. Students reason abstractly and quantitatively to help persevere in solving problems. Students use models to find structure and use reasoning to provide evidence for answers and thought processes. Use this site as a learning station on individual computers or your Interactive Whiteboard. Leave the language set to Spanish for students to practice learning Spanish on their own. Share with parents through your classroom website or blog for students to practice early learning skills. Use this site as a resource for Spanish speaking students. Nobelprize.org is the official website of the Nobel Prize. Here you find information about Alfred Nobel, the prizewinners, interviews, and photos. Videos of interviews of Nobel peace prizewinners, speeches, ceremonies, interviews, banquets, lectures, announcements, award ceremonies, and documentaries fill the gamut of all of the prizewinners. The Nobel prizes awards are in literature, chemistry, medicine, peace, economics, and physics. Under the Education tab at the top find arieties of educational games/activities and lesson plans help explain many of the Nobel Award winners' work. This site clearly explains and illustrates the purpose of the awards, the award winners, and their ideas. Videos give an insider look at each of the winners.
In the Classroom
Inspire your students to strive for excellence! Show students original, creative, thinking. Let students know they can understand the ideas awarded by trying the educational activities offered. Follow each year's announcements and award ceremonies. Use as an inspiration when beginning your own Nobel Prize winning awards competitions. Encourage students to use critical thinking skills to form opinions based on facts. EdLight offers tools for capturing and providing feedback for student work products. Follow the three easy steps to create assignments, take a picture of the work, and provide feedback on any device. Provide student feedback using rubrics, text, stickers, or record an audio message. Share EdLight tasks using Google Classroom, Clever, or student codes. Free accounts allow you to save up to 1000 images with up to two co-teachers.
In the Classroom
Make grading student work more accessible and more effective using EdLight's included tools. Use tools to draw on submitted work to point out specific areas of interest. Leave audio feedback that is specific and focused on each student's needs. Use EdLight to create portfolios for use when conferencing with parents. EdLight is an excellent tool for remote learning and hybrid learning situations as it allows flexibility in sharing work and providing timely feedback.
