The website, in a blog format, offers a wealth of information, including articles, videos, and interactive tools, aimed at understanding mental illnesses, their prevention, and strategies for maintaining mental well-being. Save time when creating presentations and choosing fonts by using Wordmark.it to preview what your exact words will look like. Simply type/paste in any words, and Wordmark.it scans the fonts on your computers, displaying the words in each and every font style you have. Adjust font size as desired to see changes or change to positive or negative space. This site helps find the perfect font for any use in no time at all! You no longer have to guess whether the capitals will look funny or the specific letters/words might be hard to read. Art teachers can use this to demonstrate design aspects of different fonts. Sign up using email and a password to save words if desired, but this isn't necessary for general use.

The Teaching of the Bill of Rights podcast is shared on Sound Cloud, reviewed here by the Lou Frey Institute and features a discussion with national civic education coordinator Kathleen Munn from the National Archives. The episode shares a conversation about teaching the Bill of Rights using primary source documents found in the archives and how archivists use primary source documents to ground discussions of the Bill of Rights through the actions of real people. Ms Munn also shares teaching ideas such as using Venn Diagrams to help students understand abstract concepts of rights and limits using student rights in the classroom and how they overlap with the Bill of Rights document.

Listen to this podcast episode to gather ideas on developing lessons that teach the Bill of Rights in meaningful ways that foster students' understanding using scaffolds to students' frames of reference. Use the podcast as a model for students to create a Bill of Rights podcast as a learning activity. Create ten groups, then ask each group to design and create a podcast with each group discussing one of the original rights using a free podcast creation tool such as Buzzsprout, reviewed here. Visit the National Archives Educator Resources page, reviewed here to find additional activities and lesson ideas. After learning about the Bill of Rights, have students play That's Your Right, reviewed here, a digital card game provided by the Annenberg Institute. Challenge students to increase proficiency by beginning with the easiest level, then try to move successfully to the most difficult level.Comments

Files are available for two weeks. This is a public site, and the backgrounds change each time you log in. You should preview the backgrounds before suggesting students use this site. Our reviewers saw nothing objectionable.

Use to collect any work from your students (or files from parents). Share images you want students to use in a project. Use to share written assignments or project updates. Be sure to have students name their documents in a standardized way to determine ownership. This is extremely handy for those moving towards a paperless classroom. Teachers who collect IEP input will love this secure way of collecting files from parents. Word Counter is a powerful, simple tool for anyone who writes. Paste in the text of your own writing (a paper, a blog post, a letter, etc.) and see how many times you repeat a word. Choose to include "small words" (the, it, etc.) in the count or not. Search your writing by roots and choose how many words you want the site to list. Repetition of words is boring for your reader and often shows "lazy" word choice. Try using this program and Big Huge Thesaurus, reviewed here, to spice up your writing. Make revision for word choice one of the steps in your writing process.

Demonstrate the use of Word Counter on your Interactive Whiteboard. Once the redundant words have appeared on the program, display the text they came from and have students make suggestions for stating the sentences in a different way, or using synonyms. Use Word Counter for your own writing in newsletters home, emails to parents, graduate work, and notes to administration. Learn about the endangered languages of the world. See samples of the languages, research about the language and culture spotlighted, or even record the language. A world map provides an overview of the location and status of each language under examination. The status criteria vary: at risk, endangered, severely endangered, vitality unknown. Each section of the map includes a figure indicating the number of threatened languages in the area. Find other names for the language, number and names of dialects, the number of its speakers alive today, and the location of the language. Information is available for professional linguists about how to prepare a language documentation project and about that field's research methods.

As part of a world cultures unit or study of langage origins, students ask their parents and grandparents what part of the world their ancestors came from and then explore this map to determine the number of endangered languages found where their ancestors lived. Gifted students may be fascinated by these unusual tongues. Have them explore to learn more about the culture behind the language. Sharing screen shots or images online just became easy and hassle free! If you have ever had a problem with any program, the support people always seem to ask you to send a screen shot (Command-shift-4 on a Mac or FN [Function key]+ PRTSC [print screen] on a PC). That requires several steps after you take the screenshot! With Snag.gy, you can simplify to a single copy/paste. Once you have created your screen shot share it through Snag.gy by URL, Twitter, Facebook, Stumble Upon, and a few other social networks. You can also share any image on the web instantly, such as a digital picture.

When teaching your students a new Internet program, consider taking a series of screen shots to post on your blog, wiki, or teacher page to guide students through the steps. Students can create screen shots for presentations. Consider using Typito, reviewed here. With Typito students can use text and video to enhance their presentations.
