Lifting as We Climb is the recording of the June 2022 conversation between author Evette Dionne and school librarian Julia Torres about Juneteenth, the battle for Black women to receive voting rights, and more. Over approximately an hour, the two women discuss the process of writing the book of the same name and the efforts undertaken by African-American women to overcome stereotypes and lift their status in communities.

Share this video with students after reading Lifting as We Climb or during your lessons on women's rights and civil rights. Use Vibby, reviewed here to highlight, annotate, or clip portions of the video to enhance learning. For example, when discussing Juneteenth, use Vibby to clip that portion of the discussion in the video to share with students. Extend learning by asking students to interview community members on their experience as Black women. Have students share the information learned modeled upon this video by creating and recording a discussion of Juneteenth, civil rights, or women's rights. Each guide includes a short explanation of the product and quick visual guides to essential components of the product. Most guides are on one easy-to-follow page; however, the guide with Digital Tools for Accessibility is thirty-seven pages and contains many helpful tips and suggestions for supporting students with disabilities. Click on the pop-out link on any of the thumbnails to view information as a full page and print.

Bookmark and save this site as a quick resource for understanding many of the features built into Microsoft products--print guides as needed to share with students and parents. Take advantage of the Digital Tools for Accessibility Presentation materials to learn more about ways to support students with disabilities. After creating an account, Connecthub guides members through the process of adding educator profiles that are included on your dashboard. Use the dashboard to add tasks, create notes, and view statistics on your coaching at a glance. Other tools offer the ability to create and share coaching cycles with your peers, including notes and outlines for focused training. The free plan allows members to add up to 20 educators, create profiles, create custom groups, and share notes with educators via email.

YPulse is the authority to consult when you want to know more about tweens, teens, and the young adults of today. This is where you can learn more about the tech savvy youth culture who will soon shape our world. There are several categories to choose from: age, education, style, culture and trends, movies, music, gaming, and media and entertainment. There are also main pages across the top. At the time of this review, the Point of View page was full of informative articles about what the millennial citizen does and does not consider risky behavior. The Millennial Voices page has the latest blog posts from some of their Youth Advisory Members. These members are from all around the world and their ages vary from 13 to 23. YPulse's primary audience is media and marketing professionals; however, there is much to glean for parents, teachers, and counselors. Stay informed by signing up for their daily insight newsletter on the Point of View Page.
In the Classroom
Teachers and counselors can stay up to date with student trends. Use specific articles as discussion starters that could lead into a survey, debate, or essay. Include some of the articles as you discuss consumerism and how ads target teens. Ask whether students of 13 have the same way of thinking as a college student. Ask what are the similarities and differences, and why. Use the book reviews for book talks in your classroom.
