Clockify is an online time tracker and spreadsheet. Use Clockify to organize information by project or assigned topics. Invite others to your spreadsheet, then log in to start and stop the timer while working. This site also has a manual mode for entering information. Add tags to sort further and categorize information as needed.
In the Classroom
Have you ever had students complain about group projects and class members not participating fully? Clockify is an excellent tool for managing these projects. Share this site with team members and ask them to include time spent on the project and use tags to categorize time spent on different activities of the project. Clockify is also an excellent resource for teaching data and statistics in math class. Create a project and use the site's tools to add information on time spent on class activities, chart time spent on homework, or hours spent on after-school activities. Ask students to take the data and analyze the results. Xplorerlabs provides free STEM learning activities for middle school educators through exploration modules and hands-on learning all correlated to Next Generation Science Standards. Begin each module with a short overview of the topic then follow each step to investigate and solve through evidence-based collaboration. Each module requires one to two class periods to complete. In addition to learning modules, Xplorerlabs also includes Xtensions including additional experiments and challenges. All of the experiments on the site include student and teacher guides for download.
In the Classroom
You and your students will benefit from this site's free materials to include in your science lab activities to teach content, problem-solving, and scientific investigation techniques. As students begin activities replace paper and pencil and use a digital graphic organizer such as one found at TUZZit, reviewed here, to organize questions and gather information. Upon completion of experiments, enhance learning and have students share their work using Printing Press, reviewed here, to create a one-page newspaper or brochure including images and text. At the end of your unit, have students use Google Slides, reviewed here, to redefine their learning and create an explainer video sharing and demonstrating the results of their lab activities.

Expii is a free resource for learning about math and science topics creatively through video and written explanations provided by different expert contributors. Math content begins with pre-algebra and moves up through advanced topics. Many units also offer options for practice. Expii also encourages students and teachers to add their content. Search for topics by keyword or choose from the different math and science topics to begin learning. Use Expii without registering; however, free registration allows you to save favorites for later use. If your district blocks YouTube, then the videos may not be viewable.
In the Classroom
Include Expii with your links for students to use at home and in class. Expii is an excellent way to provide content explanation through the voice of many different speakers, allowing the opportunity to increase student understanding. To enhance learning, ask groups of students to view lessons provided by the different contributors, then ask them to compare and contrast information by creating a concept map or Venn Diagram using Canva, reviewed here. At the end of a teaching unit, ask students to redefine what they learned using a multimedia tool like Adobe Creative Cloud Express for Education, reviewed here, or Sway, reviewed here, to share their learning. ERDPlus is a free and simple diagram maker that includes options for creating several different types of schema models. Create your diagrams with or without free signup. Free accounts offer you the ability to save documents onsite and options to easily share documents with others. Once you begin using the diagram maker, use the dashboard to choose the style of diagram to create or import a document from your computer. Use the tools to add information, connect items, and move information around to suit your needs. When finished, save to your account or your computer.
In the Classroom
Use ERDPlus to create classroom models and diagrams for any subject. Before assigning to all students, choose a few tech-savvy students to learn how to use this site and provide tutoring help for those who need it. Consider having a few students create a video explanation using Typito, reviewed here, using the provided templates. Create diagrams for students to "map" out a chapter or story. Assign groups to create study guides using this tool. Use this tool for literature activities, research projects, social studies, or science topics. Use this to create family trees or food pyramids in family and consumer science. Have students collaborate (online) to create group mind maps or review charts before tests on a given subject. Have students organize any concepts you study. Have students map out a story, plotline, or plan for the future. Collect and share data about mosquitos as part of a national project by participating in the Invasive Mosquito Project. This project is gathering data on the number and types of mosquitoes found around the country and needs the help of students, teachers, and anyone interested in participating. In addition to this research project, the site offers a collection of resources for teachers including lessons for collecting information, recognizing mosquito types, and mosquito facts. Submit your collected data using the online form found on the site.
In the Classroom
The Invasive Mosquito Project is an excellent way to teach scientific process and data gathering through real-world techniques. Take advantage of the free lessons found on the site to teach your students how to properly collect and share data before actually following procedures for participating in the project. As students learn to collect data and take images, use Wakelet, reviewed here, to organize and share their work and curate online information. As students become more involved with the project ask them to share information using Google My Maps, reviewed here. Google My Maps offers tools for creating a virtual field trip across a path created by students.

Take advantage of the large selection of additional resources offered on the site to explore snowflakes further. Log in to your free account to save and modify the lesson as you desire. This lesson is perfect for saving for a snowy day or use during winter lessons. Create your free TED-Ed account, reviewed here, and save this lesson and others for use in your classroom. Before introducing this lesson to students, ask students to share what they know about snowflakes on an online bulletin board like Lino, reviewed here. At the end of your lessons, revisit your bulletin board to add additional information learned and correct previous misconceptions. Develop mindmaps and concept maps with this easy to use tool that works both on and offline. Follow the tutorial to start and learn the basic tools within the app. Use the site's dashboard to select and change font size and color, add and move branches, and move your mindmap anywhere on the grid. When finished, save your mindmap to your computer or cloud storage sites like Google Drive using the provided links. Choose the Export as Image option to download your mindmap as a PNG file.

Create interactive digital stories with Elementari. Features include drag-and-drop text, illustrations, shapes, and integrating coding. Start by setting up your classroom to integrate storytelling with coding. Click Lessons from the top right menu to find interactive literacy lessons that combine coding with your curriculum. On the left is a column for choosing your grade level and topic. Each lesson includes an Introduction, Objectives, Coding Concepts Covered, Student Directions, and a Project Example. There are plenty of lessons to choose from to help your students become familiar with Elementari's features. Once students know how to use Elementari, let them create their own stories. After creating your account, select the option to write your story. Follow the prompts to add Elementari's free images, backgrounds, audio, and more. When finished, preview your story, then publish. After publishing, share using social media links or the provided embed code. You can also create 1 class with 35 students. Students do not need email to use Elementari. Students with existing accounts can also connect to your classroom. Students can choose an avatar from the ones provided and cannot upload any pictures. Teachers must approve stories before they can be published. In the Help Center, be sure to search for Curriculum Guide!

You may want to start by clicking Help on the upper right menu. There you will find directions for Creating and Coding, Interactive Lessons, Classroom Dashboard, and others. Create stories together as a class as you move through a unit or topic. Enhance student learning by adding ideas your students suggest. Use in a flipped or blended classroom to deliver course information. Assign several student groups a different topic and extend their learning by having each group create their own version as they learn more about the topic. Challenge gifted students to modify the "standard" class text with the additional material they discover by going deeper and learning about related topics.
