This site offers three free teaching kits for middle school students to gain an understanding of World War II. Included topics are The Attack on Pearl Harbor, Meet the Navajo Code Talkers, and Life in the Japanese Internment Camps. Each kit includes a play or story as the basis for the lesson, with accompanying worksheets and lesson plans that offer a step-by-step guide on using the story or article as part of classroom learning opportunities. Each lesson includes a correlation to Common Core Standards.
In the Classroom
Include these activities in your World War II and Pearl Harbor lessons. Ask groups of students to choose one of the lesson topics to include in a larger research project, then ask students to share their findings with the rest of the class. Include Case Maker, reviewed here as an engaging part of your students' research process. Visit Case Maker to find activities that allow students to explore topics such as Japanese American Internment and Citizenship Rights. Using Microsoft Sway as our foundation, we'll design a narrative that guides students through a series of puzzles and tasks that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Stylar is an image and design tool incorporating AI to enhance and edit images. It allows members to transform photos using any of the included filters, combine images using AI, easily remove objects, and more. Begin by creating an account using your email or logging in with a Google account. Edit images by uploading a photo from your device and choosing from the many editing tools and filters provided. Select "Create a new project" to create images from text, insert objects, and alter images using the provided tools. When finished, images are available in your history and to download. The free plan offers 30 credits/day (resets daily), three auto prompts daily, and five text-to-image and image-to-image features per day.
In the Classroom
Stylar is perfect for many classroom uses and an excellent resource for you and your students. Use the image tools to remove unwanted objects from classroom photos, create profile images of students for student projects, or create AI images for creative writing projects.
