MirrorTalk uses AI as a partner to create and share meaningful opportunities for cognitive and emotional reflection in any classroom. It is also an assessment tool that can help develop continuing learning growth. The AI features thoughtful questions that guide participants through a reflective process using personalized prompts. After creating an account, create a group by adding a group name and grade level, and define how students access the activity. Access options include student login, name only without email, or open access without a name; however, video is required. Additional options offer video or audio and presentation in English or Spanish. Set up reflections by adding your objective and the type of focus to use, such as depth of knowledge, problem-solving, and others. Share the prompts with students using the assignment link. As students respond, your dashboard on MirrorTalk updates with charts that provide feedback on student responses and suggestions for supporting each student in their learning process.
In the Classroom
MirrorTalk can be used in many ways to support student learning and reflection. Begin the school year with a prompt that encourages students to reflect on the previous school year and set goals for the new year. Create prompts as exit tickets for students to reflect on the day's lesson and as a formative assessment for you to modify upcoming lessons as needed. Numerade STEM Bootcamps provide free, interactive video lessons in STEM subjects like algebra, physics, and chemistry. The platform includes Bootcamps with step-by-step video tutorials, practice problems, and quizzes designed to enhance students' understanding. You can access a variety of topics for different grade levels and standardized tests like the ACT and SAT. The videos have captions available for students who may need them. Videos do have discussions under them, so be mindful of this if are having students use them independently.
In the Classroom
Flip your classroom and have students watch Numerade Bootcamp videos at home to learn foundational concepts before class. They then can apply their learning through in-class lessons. Have students create and take practice quizzes based on Numerade's standardized test prep Bootcamps using a program like Quizlet, reviewed here. This will engage them in active test prep, enhance recall through repeated practice, and extend readiness for exams. Have students summarize a Numerade bootcamp topic by creating short review videos with Padlet, reviewed here, helping their classmates understand key points from the videos. Varsity Tutors offers a series of free live classes for summer learning. These sessions begin on May 6 and run through August 14. Classes provide learning opportunities to help students prepare for the SAT and ACT exams, learn about hieroglyphics, visit an aquarium, and more. Select the link to any class to learn more about the content and suggested grade levels, and enroll. Each class is offered at a specific time and date and lasts 45 minutes to an hour.
In the Classroom
Include links to these free classes with your other summer reading and learning opportunities shared with students and parents. Be sure to highlight offerings of specific interest to your students; for example, if students are taking the ACT and SAT exams, point out the courses that help students prepare for these tests. Use the explore area to find songs produced by other creators, or select Create to have Suno make a song based on your prompt. Add a description for your song that includes information such as the topic, type of music, and any specific words to include. The site offers a wide range of learning materials for all subjects including, Mathematics, English, Science, Geography, History, and more. Each subject is broken down into manageable topics, featuring easy-to-understand notes, interactive activities, and quizzes to reinforce learning and test understanding. The site includes animations and graphics to explain complex concepts, particularly useful in subjects like Science and Math. Additionally, guides and articles offer study and revision tips, exam preparation strategies, and advice on coping with school-related stress. While this site is focused on UK studies, the content can easily be used by any country; just use the search feature to find content. Students can save content, which requires account creation. Please be mindful of your district's policy on student account creation before having students sign up. The videos on this site are only available if you reside in the UK, however there are interactives and a lot of content to help your students understand the concepts.

The article "How to Take Cornell Notes" from TeachThought.com explains the process of using the Cornell note-taking method. The learner will divide a piece of paper into two columns, leaving room at the bottom of the page for a summary: a small column on the left for keywords or questions and a larger column on the right to add detailed information. Note-takers should use symbols and abbreviations to accelerate the note-taking process during a lecture, video, or reading. Cornell notes are helpful in studying because the learner can cover the right column and ask themselves questions such as, "Why is this material significant?" and "How can this be applied to the real world?"
In the Classroom
Teaching note-taking skills using Cornell notes will help students study and process information throughout their school careers. Teachers can begin teaching the concept using paper and pencil, then start to translate the note-taking skill onto digital tools such as OneNote, reviewed here, and Google Docs, reviewed here. World of 7 Billion provides a broad variety of resources and information for teaching about world population. Discover the ever changing world and United State's current population count near the top of each page. Explore the Teachers Resources for activities to use with middle and high school students. Encourage students to participate in the annual video challenge contest sponsored by the site highlighting different global challenges with prizes up to $1,000.
In the Classroom
Encourage students to take part in World of 7 Billion's annual video contest. Benefit from the free lessons for middle and high school students as well as the ideas for school-wide events. Provide time for students to browse through the site and to generate questions about it. Brainstorm not only questions but what students learned from it. Allow groups time to research the economic and social issues that have caused such a change in population and how people live. Challenge students to create a presentation with their findings using Prezi, reviewed here. Have students use a mapping tool such as Zeemaps, reviewed here, to create a map of population changes around the world (with audio stories and pictures included)!

Collaborate and annotate online using eMargin. Create an account using your email to get started. Begin annotating using text you upload from your computer, enter a URL, or copy and paste text. Once text is available, use the dashboard to highlight with your choice of colors, add notes or tags, or search for specific words or phrases. Create groups to share and collaborate on annotations.
In the Classroom
eMargin is a great tool for you (or your students) to annotate research and information on the Internet or from personal documents. Create teacher annotations or question and answer comments on pages. Ask comprehension questions or guiding questions for places you send students on the web. Ask questions that students can complete as homework to show that they accessed the web resource assigned. This tool would also be a powerful way for students to point out bias on a web page or for art students to comment on images and design elements.
