Use this site as a way to approach the tons of information students are expected to learn about the Roman empire. Assign students into pairs or cooperative learning groups, and have them choose one of the many topics to research in the "Rome Exposed" section. Have each student group research their topic, with the intent to present their information to the class. Have each group prepare a quick presentation by creating online books using a tool such as Bookemon, reviewed here. There are several topics that may be interesting for your advanced French students. Allow them to investigate links that sound interesting to them. Once they focus on a topic have them take notes using Webnote, reviewed here; tell students to be sure to save the URL to share their notes and questions with you and their peers. Take this a step further and challenge students to present the information they found to you and their classmates using Canva, reviewed here. In a personal economy lesson, use this site to help students "plan a trip" to Paris. Assign students to cooperative learning groups, with each group receiving a hypothetical amount of money, and directions to find lodging, food, transportation while surveying the sites of Paris. This is a great way to teach students how to budget with real world prices and figures. For an emphasis on French history, require students to participate in certain tourist activities in their hypothetical situation - simultaneously creating challenges to their budgets.
