Finding Creative Commons images representing all members of society is difficult; the Human Development Institute shares a gallery of free, downloadable photos that include people with disabilities in all aspects of culture. All images are hosted on Flickr, reviewed here. Open any of the included albums to view photographs taken in different settings, such as outdoors, in music class, and in a university setting. The images include subjects of different ages, disabilities, and races. Open any photo and follow the links to download to your device or share to social media links. Although attribution isn't required, whenever possible, include attribution when using images that are not your own.
In the Classroom
Bookmark and save this collection of images to use in many different circumstances. For example, use these images when building slide presentations, writing classroom newsletters, or accompanying math story problems. BBC Bitesize for Secondary is an extensive online resource designed specifically for secondary students. The site offers a wide range of learning materials for all subjects including, Mathematics, English, Science, Geography, History, and more. Each subject is broken down into manageable topics, featuring easy-to-understand notes, interactive activities, and quizzes to reinforce learning and test understanding. The site includes animations and graphics to explain complex concepts, particularly useful in subjects like Science and Math. Additionally, guides and articles offer study and revision tips, exam preparation strategies, and advice on coping with school-related stress. While this site is focused on UK studies, the content can easily be used by any country; just use the search feature to find content. Students can save content, which requires account creation. Please be mindful of your district's policy on student account creation before having students sign up. The videos on this site are only available if you reside in the UK, however there are interactives and a lot of content to help your students understand the concepts.
In the Classroom
Utilize the quizzes on BBC Bitesize as a fun and interactive way to assess students' understanding of a topic. These can be done individually or in groups. Project them on your whiteboard or take the questions and gamify them utilizing a program like Kahoot, reviewed here. Assign students to work in groups to explore a topic on BBC Bitesize and then create a presentation or project based on their learning. This is a good way to expose students to events happening in other countries. Use the site's resources to supplement your lessons in various subjects. For example, in a Science class, you could use their interactive content to explain a complex concept like photosynthesis or the periodic table. ClassPoint integrates with PowerPoint and Windows operating systems using presentation tools, interactive quiz questions, and a gamified reward system. Use the presentation tools to highlight information, add annotations, open a whiteboard, and more. Turn your slides into interactive questions to share with students and receive immediate feedback through the responses. Use the rewards option to give or take away stars to students based on your preferences; students move through levels to receive badges by earning rewards. Download ClassPoint to your Windows device by following the directions and prompts provided. Free accounts offer up to a twenty-five-student class size, five questions per PowerPoint, three draggable objects, three saved classes, and basic gamification. ClassPoint is not available for MacOS devices at the time of this review; however, it is being looked at as an option, so Mac users might want to check back to see if it becomes available.

Use ClassPoint's tutorials after downloading this tool onto your compatible Windows device to learn how to add quizzes, create word clouds, upload videos, and use the other features available with ClassPoint. Take lessons beyond your typical slide show presentations using ClassPoint's interactive component to engage students and connect learning through multimedia presentations. Customize chatbots using your materials, instructions, and rubrics and share them securely with students. Personalize the appearance as desired and include text, audio, and images. Receive instant feedback that identifies areas of students' strengths and weaknesses of the content. Mizou also offers a searchable library of content available to add to your workspace to use as is or to edit to fit your needs. Share chatbots with students by launching a new session and providing students with the URL or QR code. Students share their names to access the chat; directions and responses are available as text or audio.
In the Classroom
Use Mizou in many different ways to engage students in learning. For example, when teaching the novel 1984, use the chat in Mizou's library with George Orwell to engage in critical thinking activities that explore the themes and ties to the modern world shared in the novel. FindIcons.com is a search tool that helps you find free icons. Type your term in the search bar to view icons in FindIcons database. Choose from several different options to download icons in the file format desired, such as png. Convert to jpg, bmp, or several other file options. Each icon includes licensing information so you can look for icons that are Creative Commons or public domain. Create an account then make user sets of your favorite icons. Access your user sets from anywhere through the FindIcons website. Explore the TAGS button to find search ideas. Be aware: ANY word/term can be searched, some may not be appropriate for the classroom. If you plan to allow young people to use this site independently, be sure to discuss appropriate searching.

This short video creates a situation where it is necessary to choose synonyms to avoid using the same word repeated times. It goes on to explain how to use a conventional thesaurus. It uses the overly repeated word from the first situation to examine a thesaurus entry, and it explains how to know which group of thesaurus words to choose from. Although tv411 was originally created for English language learners (mainly adults), much of the content would be useful with secondary students. Preview the video before you share with your class.

MyBib is a bibliography and citation generator that offers many different citation styles. Use this simple tool to create and save citations for various resources, including websites, PDFs, and ISBN. Begin by selecting the type of resource from the options bar or drag a PDF onto the site. Follow the prompts that may ask for additional information. When finished, select the download option to copy and add to a document, choose from other options to print, add to Google Drive, and more. Creating an account is optional; however, it allows you to save your citations for future use. MyBib also offers a Chrome extension that creates citations directly from websites.
In the Classroom
Include this tool on all classroom computers and as a link on your class website for student use. This bibliography tool helps students properly format their Works Cited pages. Use this tool to help keep your students (or even yourself) organized! Make sure you teach plagiarism lessons about paraphrasing and proper citation of sources, so students use this tool properly! Take the drudgery out of writing formal papers by emphasizing thinking over mechanics. Whether teaching beginning research or seniors in high school, introduce them to MyBib. For younger students, seeing all the formatting and citing done correctly from the beginning makes sense, whether it is the body of the writing or the bibliography. With either age group, give lessons about each part of a paper or letter. Demonstrate on an interactive whiteboard (or with a projector) and think out loud as a group to pull together ideas, sources, quotes, and more to support an argument and build a paper. You can use it, too, when you write for your graduate program. These questions are accompanied by relevant videos and reading materials that assist students in responding thoroughly and meaningfully. Educators can take advantage of the extensive question bank by selecting existing questions to give to students or by creating their own original questions. The vast collection of assignable materials helps facilitate in-depth learning and discussion. Videos are linked to YouTube and Vimeo; check for access before using them in class or assigning them to students.

Simply type/paste in any words, and Wordmark.it scans the fonts on your computers, displaying the words in each and every font style you have. Adjust font size as desired to see changes or change to positive or negative space. This site helps find the perfect font for any use in no time at all! You no longer have to guess whether the capitals will look funny or the specific letters/words might be hard to read. Art teachers can use this to demonstrate design aspects of different fonts. Sign up using email and a password to save words if desired, but this isn't necessary for general use.
